On the first day of the match between Union and Oamaru II, the former team made 196 and Oamaru had lost two for 37. J. Hall and W. Bee continued their innings interrupted last week and carried the total to 107. Both batted solidly and Hall especially drove very freely. J. Borrows gave a polished display of batting before retiring at 63. Hunt, with mixed-paced deliveries did the most damage as a bowler, securing three victims at the cost of 54. Halkett's average being three for 61.
