Seniors finish 3rd

Union came third in the annual Wild Buck T20 knockout competition after defeat to Albion in the knockout round and Oamaru sadly defaulting to seniors in 3rd/4th playoff.
Union drew Albion for the knockout round and the home team posted an imposing 162 in its 20 overs. For Albion Jonty Naylor (18), Brady Kingan (16) and Brad Kernahan (24) made good contributions during the innings but Regan George was the top run scorer with an unbeaten 59. For Union captain Brad Fleming was the pick of the bowlers with 3-28 of his 4 overs.
Chasing a total of more than 8 runs an over for victory Union started positively but as the innings wore on Albion managed to stop the boundaries required to successfully apply pressure. All Union batsmen were dismissed looking to increase the run rate with 7 players caught during the innings. Thomas Shields top scored with 21, but can feel a little unlucky as most of his shots were hit to fielders and deserved a higher total. Union were all out in the 18th over, 63 runs short of victory. For Albion Brady Kingan bowling slow spin took 5-17, wrapping up the Union tail, white Ricky Whyte took 3-22.
Valley won the other knockout game which left Union to play Oamaru in the 3rd/4th playoff. This game wasn’t played however as Oamaru defaulted the game which left Union repeating last years 3rd place.
Albion 162-6 ( R. George 59no, B. Kernahan 24, J. Naylor 18, B. Kingan 16, B. Fleming 3-28 )
Union 99 ( T. Shields 21, D. Conlan 13, D. Drew 12, S. Conlan 12, B. Kingan 5-17, R. Whyte 3-22 )
Albion won by 63 runs
