Michael was a strong middle order batsman and slippery medium pace bowler. He won both the Senior Batting and Senior Bowling Trophies, testament to his true all-round skills. Bush was a bowler for all conditions, able to exploit seam if available, or fall back to swinging the ball if the tracks were goods. He was one of a special breed that could commentate whilst delivering the ball. Local umpires found it disconcerting to have him announce an LBW shout before delivering the ball for an LBW appeal! He was also the only player in living memory that handed the umpire his hat and cigarette at the commencement of an over. Michael lived in the Pink Palace with Peter Brown, and the McGregor Brothers. This was a concern for his captain. |
