Mark Wilson produced the highest ever individual score in the history of the Union Cricket Club on Saturday with 149 not out as Union beat Valley by 100 runs.
Batting first Union made the massive total of 287 in their 50 over's with the loss of only 3 wickets. Mark Wilson was in fine form hitting 5 sixes and 15 fours, and hitting 30 runs of one of N Cunningham's over's. Wilson and John Crombie fell just short of the record partnership for Seniors which was 161. Their partnership was 157 unbroken. Crombie provided excellent support for Wilson as Crombie scored 50 not out.
Chasing the formidable total Valley made a good start through openers Jason Mavor and Dean Paterson before Mavor was caught by Paul Johnston of the bowling of Tony Moore. Despite some good contributions from the two openers and middle order batsmen N Cunningham (37) and Stefan Mavor (30) nobody for Valley made a needed large score and Valley were all out for 187, 100 runs short of the Union total. Craig Wilson (4-50), John Crombie (2-41), and Paul Johnston (2-56) were the best of the Union bowlers.
