Union recorded its second win in the Dick Hunt Competition with a fine 6 wicket win against Oamaru in cold conditions at Awamoa Park.

Batting first Oamaru made a good start but lost opener Gerry Cunningham with the score on 44 to the bowling of John Crombie. But it went from good to bad as Oamaru lost its next 5 wickets for only 33 runs. After the loss of Cunningham, fellow opener Andrew Sewell (4) was quick to follow, and Gareth Duncan (0) was out only 1 run later to the bowling of Steven Ridley. Ridley then picked up the following batters Scott Simpson (6) and Mathew Dawe (8) to leave Oamaru on 77-6. Kris Sutherland (34) and Matt Dawe (6) then had a good partnership of 45 but with the loss of Sutherland Oamaru folded losing their last 4 wickets for only 3 runs. For Union Steven Ridley was very economical conceding only 9 runs of ten over's and picking up three wickets in the process. Mark Wilson took 3 wickets in 9 balls for the figures of 3-0. Paul Johnston (2-27), John Crombie (1-16) and Brendon Sidon (1-13) were the other wicket takers.

Union made a bad start losing opener Craig Wilson for a duck on the fourth ball of the innings. However a 91 run partnership between Glynn Cameron and Mark Wilson (28) put the game effectively out of reach for Oamaru. With the scores tied on 125 Union lost the wickets of John Crombie (6) and Steven Ridley (0) in consecutive balls but opener Glynn Cameron hit the winning runs to leave himself on an unbeaten 67.
