The Union Senior side for the 13th time and for the second successive season are the Dick Hunt champions after a comfortable win over top qualifier Albion at Whitestone Stadium

With both teams missing players due to various commitments and injuries the game was made more even. Albion won the toss and elected to bat first and never really looked like getting a competitive total. The only batsman to make a significant contribution to his team was Brad Kernahan who top scored for the match, coming in at four in order and remaining undefeated with 54 at the completion of the innings. The wickets were shared amongst the bowlers with Matt Lilley bowling his 10 overs in one spell finishing with 3-22 of 10 overs. Brad Fleming (2-51) and Paul Johnston (2-16) took two wickets each.

Union got of to a bad start losing opener Jason Todd for 6 with the total on 23, before Jake Greenslade and Johnston combined with a 44 run partnership to put their team on top. With the loss of Greenslade for 16, Albion looked like they might be bringing themselves back into the game however Thomas Shields and Johnston then put on 58 for the 3rd wicket leading Union to an 8 wicket victory. Johnston, in his highest score for the season, top scored with 41 while Shields was 39 not out.

The Borton Cup will now recommence with the Union Seniors 15 points ahead of second placed Valley, and with one home game left will be looking to win so that the Payne Tempero Cup extends its stay at KGP for more than two seasons.
