Two losses in lower grades

The Union Cricket Club suffered two losses in the lower afternoon grades with the Senior Reserve team losing away to Eastern while the Second Graders lost to Valley at Weston.

Eastern batted first in the Senior Reserve clash at the Waikouaiti Sports Ground notching up 144 for the loss of 10 wickets. Jenkinson top scored for the home side with 38, while for Union Nicol took 5-40, Craig Robertson 2-26 and Kirk Sidon chipped in with 2-8. In its chase only Hamish Robertson returned a notable score with 25, his team falling short by 45 runs. For Eastern Vickery took 4-18, Oldham 2-20 and Dempster 2-22.

In the second grade game Valley batted first and recorded 207 in their innings. Daz Peterson was the best of the bowlers taking 3-11, while Glen Curry got 2-16. In its chase Union fell short, all out for 186, Glen Curry backing up bowling effort with 65no and Daniel Martin in a very quick and big hitting innings got 57. Union falling short by 21 runs.
