Oamaru v. Union
Friday, 3 December 1920

The Oamaru and Union teams played a match on the School ground yesterday, which resulted in a win for Union by a substantial margin. Oamaru batted first and Graham proved destructive to their prospects, as he cleaned out Uttley with the first ball of the match, and finished by taking 7 wickets for 30 runs. Hargreaves alone presented any difficulty to the bowlers, and he made 21 in good style. Union did not shape very well from the outset, but Robertson and Todd placed the result beyond any doubt. The Oamaru fielding was distinctly poor, and both Hargreaves and Zimmerman suffered from its weakness, Zimmerman bowled well. Union, with a lead of 89 runs, declared, and put Oamaru in again, but were not so successful in getting rid of them as in the first innings Zimmerman played a rattling good innings for 71 before being well caught by Valentine at deep leg. His score included two sixes and nine fours, and both his defence and attack were very strong.
