Hugh Robertson

The cricket season was virtually concluded on Saturday with the completion of the second round of Association fixtures. Oamaru finished their game with Union on King George's Park under damp conditions. Union in their first innings just beat the Oamaru score by 1 runs, mainly through the instrumentality of Ongley and Malcolm. Oamaru started the second innings fairly well with Pope and Cameron, but the others, except Zimmerman, prevented little opposition. Graham bowling very well. With 51 runs to get in about 40 minutes to secure a 3-point win, Union lost H. Robertson's wicket early, but then Oamaru's success ended and Gale, after getting set, hit freely, knocking up 39 of the runs required in less than 20 minutes, including five sixes. Todd lent useful aid.
