With one week to go Union qualified for the Borton Cup semi-finals with a comfortable 6 wicket win over 4th placed Valley.

After winning the toss and electing to bat Valley were soon in trouble being 19-2 with the loss of Bryon Neil and Geoff Mavor. A good partnership then developed between Kelvin Mansfield and Mark Patterson before Patterson was off stump was knocked out of the ground with a ball from Mike Ormandy that cut back into the right hander sharply, the partnership worth 50 to the Valley innings. Ormandy was unlucky to only finish with 2 wickets and deserved more after a fine bowling display in his 10 over's. The seventh wicket partnership from McNally and Blakely put on 35 was the next highest partnership, Valley all out for 151 in 40.3 over's. For Union Ormandy took 2-43 bowling in tandem with John Crombie, who was making his first appearance at King George Park in three years. Crombie showed his experience in out thinking some of the Valley batsmen with variations of pace and length taking 4-40 of ten over's. Daniel Conlon took two wickets including the wicket of B Neil who saw his bails dislodged by a good a ball from Conlon. The main concern for the Union team for next week will be the availability of Mark Wilson who suffered an injury to his back and left the field in the Valley innings.

Chasing the Valley total and one batsmen down due to Wilson being unavailable to bat, Union needed a good start and that's what openers Glynn Cameron and Thomas Shields provided. When Cameron was dismissed four short of his half century, the pair had moved the team to 46 in just over 23 over's. A mini collapse followed with the loss of Shields (23) and Hamish Robertson (3) that saw them 90-3. Antony Cromwell and Michael Ormandy (after being moved up the order to pinch hit) then combined for an entertaining 50 run partnership in just over six over's with Cromwell out for 28 and the score on 140. Ormandy then faced the bowling of Patterson scoring a four of the first ball of the over and a six of the third. Union passing Valleys total being 4 wickets down, a win by 6 wickets.
