Valley had a big win against Union in the weekend in a match that was effectively a dead rubber after Union and Oamaru has already made the final.

Batting first in one of the hottest days of the summer, Valley's John Blakely top scored with 98 not out just falling short of a well deserved century. Geoff Smith was another to make use of a good batting wicket at KGP scoring 59 before being caught of the bowling of Dan Conlan. Valley notching up 271 in its 45 over's, with the last over's of the innings costing Union 77 runs.

In its chase Union never looked like challenging the large Valley total and had only scored 57 runs of the first 20 over's of the innings. Union was all out for 134 in the 37th over with only James Cutt in his final game for Union able to post a score over twenty finishing with 30.
