John Crombie

A ten man Union senior side with a team comprising less than half of its regular players beat Waitaki by 50 runs at Milner Park.

Forced to bat first stand in skipper Ants Cromwell was lost early in the innings but the other top three batsman provided scores in the 30ies with Jeremiah Shields top scoring with 37, while Hamish Robertson (35) and Thomas Shields (31) both made scores in the thirties. Ben Sheat came in near the end of the innings hitting his way to 26. Union all out in the 45th over for 189.

Thanks to the efforts of in form bowler Phil Crossan Union where right on top early and had Waitaki all out for 139. Crossan was rewarded for some fine bowling taking his second 6 wicket bag of the season finishing with 6-35 of ten over's, while the ever green John Crombie took 2-34. Ben Sheat took his first senior wicket for Union and finished with 1-42 of his 7 over's. Waitaki all out for 139, a win to Union by 50 runs.
