Union won the Dick Hunt Rosebowl in a very low scoring game at the Showground's.
Albion won the toss and elected to field on a very green outfield and low and slow wicket due to the heavy rains earlier this month. Number three batsman Matt George showed he was in fine form scoring 52 including 5 fours and 2 sixes hit into the Showground's car park. But with the loss of George with the score on 85 a Union collapse saw it lose its last 5 wickets for 22 runs. The tenth wicket partnership between Robert Coates and Peter Cameron saw Union move to 107 all out in the 38th over.
Chasing Unions total Albion soon saw itself in trouble with the score at 35-8 still needing 71 runs for victory. Captain Wayne Forbes and Kelvin McFelin then combined in a partnership that looked like it might give Albion a slight chance before McFelin was brilliantly caught out in a one hand diving catch by Mike Seddon at leg slip. Rick Lyon soon followed and Albion were all out for 64 handing Union its 3rd Dick Hunt competition win in the past four seasons. Bowling for Union Mike Seddon backed up his catch in the field taking 4-16 in his ten overs, Antony Cromwell after having 17 runs hit of his first three over's took 3-26 of ten over's, Paul Johnston was very economical finishing with 2-9 off seven over's, while Jason Todd took 1-9 of seven over's.
