The Union Cricket Club Easter Tour team tied with Naseby and lost to Ducks 'n' Drakes by 7 wickets in this years Easter Tour.

After losing the toss to and bowling first Naseby got of to a good start as both openers McDiarmid and Blakely were aggressive on the small ground. Union managed to pull it back in the middle overs but some big batting later in the innings left Naseby 241/8 of its 40 overs. McDiarmid top scored for the innings with 71, while MacKenzie scored 42 and Blakely notched up 33. For Union Thomas Shields was the best of the bowlers taking 4-35, while Christian Westergaard took 2-35.

Union started slowly as some good partnerships at the top of order set a good base for some big hitting at the end with Shaun Conlan and Thomas Shields scoring half-centuries. With the loss of Thomas Shields with the score on 180, Union started to accelerate the run rate. Glen Paterson was an aggressive mood scoring 22 in quick time as he bought his team close to victory. With 16 needed for victory in the final over of the innings and nine wickets down, Isaac Shields and Paterson took 9 of the first five balls. It was left to Shields on the final ball, who hit bowler Gibson for a six, to leave both teams tied. For Naseby Rex Gibson took 3-41 and McDiarmid backed up his batting effort with 2-34.

On the second day Union won the toss and batted first with Jeremiah Shields hitting his half-century in less than 6 overs. They looked set for a big total however some good bowling from the Timaru side pegged them back with Union all out for 211 in the 44th over. Shields was the top scorer for the innings with 80 while Thomas Shields (43) and Todd Sidon (34) made some good contributions. For Ducks 'n' Drakes, J. Liddy returned the outstanding figures of 6-17 of 9 overs.

Union had no reply to the openers of N. Tubb and B. Leonard as they took control of the game. They put on 74 before Leonard was caught Callander of the bowling of Isaac Shields for 28. Tubb then continued to dominate as he took his score to 105 before he was out to the bowling of Isaac Shields for 105. Union picked up another wicket but the game was effectively Ducks 'n' Drakes as they passed the Union total only three wickets down.
