The Union senior team lost a close match against Valley in the 50 over match of the Dick Hunt Rosebowl Competition.

Batting first Valley amassed 182 runs for the loss of 10 wickets in 48 overs with Francois Mostert top scoring, notching up 82 runs. Captain Andrew Fisher chimed in with 22 runs at 9 as the tail add some key runs at the end of the innings. For Union Daniel Conlan continued his fine form taking 4-43 of his 10 overs, while Hayden Creedy (3-26) and leg spinner Stephan Grobler (2-25) were the other main wicket takers.

Union got of to a slow but steady start with openers Glynn Cameron and Grobler (29) putting on 41 for the first wicket before the loss of Grobler to the bowling of Dallas Mahuika. Jake Greenslade then combined with Cameron to put their team in a strong postion before Greenslade was stumped of the bowling of Fisher for 38.The Union middle order then struggled as Cameron played the anchor role, with runs starting to dry up and Valley bringing themselves back into the game. Mostert, backing up his 82 with the bat, was unplayable with the ball at times finishing with 3-19 of his 10 overs while Dallas Mahuika took 2-24 of his 7. With 5 runs required of the last ball it provided to much for the visitors, with a dot ball being bowled and victory awarded to Valley.
