The Union Senior team suffered their first loss in the last round of the Borton Cup competition before Christmas to St Kevin's at St Kevin's.
After winning the toss and electing to field St Kevin's were bowled out for 151 in 50 overs with Matt Lilly in his Union Senior debut taking 5-43 in 8 overs. Glynn Cameron took his three wickets in the final over of innings finishing with 3-28. For St Kevin's departing player and captain Tim O'Malley scored 28 while Hamish Robertson top scored with 30.
Union got of to a bad start losing Jeremiah Shields (1), Ryan Whitburn (6) and Sean Conlan (24) to leave them 24-3. Two good partnerships between Glynn Cameron and Paul Johnston with Thomas Shields brought their team back into the game however the tail failed to wag as they were bowled out for 132, 20 runs short of the required total. For St Kevin's O'Malley backed up his batting effort taking 4-15 of 5 overs while Jeremy Smith knocked the top off the Union batting line-up taking 2-18.
The Borton Cup now takes a break with the Dick Hunt Competition recommencing this week.
