Union v. Balruddery

On Thursday afternoon the Union Cricket Club journeyed to Balruddery to play a match with the Balruddery team. Both teams having done good practice, and being in the best of form, put up an exciting match. Balruddery won the toss, and put Union to bat - Rivers (15) and King (37) contributed largely to Union's first innings, Balruddery making 87. In the second innings Union made 61 for the loss of three wickets, and the innings was declared closed. Balruddery only put up 27 for nine wickets. The Union Club have been unfortunate in losing their old captain, Mr D.W. Rosie, who has left the town, and who always took great interest in the Club. His departure from amongst them will be keenly felt.
