The Union Senior team had its first win of the season today beating St Kevin's by 8 wickets in their Borton Cup fixture on the artificial at St Kevin's.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, St Kevin's got of to an extremely slow start with only 5 runs coming of the first 12 overs. The run rate continued to hover at around 1 runs per over before Matt Brien came into bat. With an unorthodox style he looked to hit out and put the pressure back on the bowlers notching up 36 runs in 29 balls before he was caught by Michael Ormandy of the bowling of Dan Conlan. Shaun Kehiller notched up 17 before he was bowled by Jason Todd which started a collapse in the St Kevin's tail. The innings was ended quickly as first Todd and then Conlan took the final four wickets for the addition of only 1 run, as they collapsed to be 78 all out in the 36th over. For Union all bowlers recorded economical figures with openers Matt Lilley and Brad Fleming only conceding 5 runs of their 12 overs. Jason Todd (4-20) was the main wicket taker while Dan Conlan (3-23) and Michael Ormandy (3-22) took three wickets each. Paul Johnston took his 100th catch for Union Seniors with the catch of Justin Fowler.

Needing wickets quickly St Kevin's got of to a good start with both openers dismissed early in the innings. Duncan Drew (20 not out) and Thomas Shields (37 not out) then combined for an unbeaten 69 run partnership for the third wicket, Shields hitting two sixes in a row to bring up victory for his side.

It will now be three weeks before seniors next game, with next weekend being Labour weekend and the following week they have the bye.
