The Oamaru v. Union match was continued on Saturday under ideal conditions, except the wicket was patch in its effect, for it was wet and drying rapidly. Union's first innings closed for 166, or 58 runs behind. Oamaru's second strike realised 182, of which Jones made 64 including one six and nine fours. He was lucky in avoiding the field with uppish strokes, Zimmerman played in his best form for 63, including four sixes and eight fours. McDonald secured the best advantage for Union, through his bowling was not good, and J. Robertson the most useful bowler on the side. Union started their second strike badly losing the first seven wickets for 42 but McBeath (37) and H. Robertson (27) stopped the slide and batting more freely than the others, kept the bowlers out, so that there were still two wickets to fall and 131 runs behind when time was called. Zimmerman bowled very well in this innings until he tired. Oamaru won on the first innings.
