In 2009 the International Cricket Council (ICC) celebrated its 100th year of operation since its founding on 15 June 1909. What began as a three-country alliance between Australia, England and South Africa has grown to a global family embracing over 100 countries and millions of players, volunteers and supporters. As part of the celebrations and in recognition of the contribution volunteers make to cricket, the International Cricket Council awarded 1000 Centenary Medals to volunteers around the world who had demonstrated exceptional commitment to the game of cricket. The ICC asked New Zealand Cricket to identify 50 people who have had a longstanding contribution to cricket in New Zealand. Not only were the three above all from Oamaru but also from The Union Cricket Club. One other to receive the medal was Mike O'Conner, who is a past Union member. This is the most medals awarded to members from one cricket club in the world.

The Union Cricket Club also celebrated its centenary in 2009. As part of Union's centenary a book was published containing information on the club and also a page on the ICC Medals. Below is information from that page listing the various roles and awards the three above have recieved upto 2009 as part of cricket.
