The Senior team proved that it has a real fighting quality in the side after a hard fought 5 wicket win against St Kevin's.

After winning the toss and electing to field Union looked to be in trouble with St Kevin's openers Simon Butler and Ben Cant providing a good opening partnership, while number 4 batsman Sean Conlan recorded 31. At times the St Kevin's batsmen looked to be taking the game away from Union but some bowling performances pegged them back and in the last 5 over's only 19 runs were scored, St Kevin's all out for 148 in the 45th over. Paul Johnston led from the front taking 5-34 and sitting on a hatrick at one stage while Duncan Drew took 2-29.

With a wicket which was getting more difficult to bat on as time went by in the game, Union was soon in trouble losing Duncan Drew for 15 then James Cutt for 12 to find themselves 33-2. Glynn Cameron, playing his 200th Senior game for the club, and Thomas Shields then looked to first steady the Union batting and slowly move towards the required total against a fired up St Kevin's team. With the loss of Shields (16), Cameron (17) and then the experienced Mark Wilson (4) the game was still evenly poised with Union 79-5 still requiring 70 runs for victory with Jeremiah Shields and Todd Sidon at the crease. The two combined for the largest partnership of the game and the winning of the match racking up an unbroken 73 runs, with Jeremiah playing a more subdued innings than usual and Sidon feeding the strike to his partner. It was left to Jeremiah to hit the winning runs, a boundary four, to leave himself 54 not out while Sidon was 14 not out. A win to Union by 5 wickets.
