All cricket in North Otago was abandoned yesterday due to heavy rain and thunderstorms hitting the district at 4pm.

Both teams started the day in blistering hot sunshine reaching 28+ degrees, with Seniors winning the toss in their game against Valley at KGP and electing to bowl first. This looked to be a good decision as the away side struggled to put runs on the board crawling to 64/2 in the 22nd over, however still having wickets in hand. After captain Lachlan Kingan was run out, this bought to the crease Robbie Smith who combined with Nathan McLachlan in a 100 run partnership for the 5th wicket. With this turn around Valley looked to be set for a large total but they then started losing wickets at an alarming rate as they slipped from 204-5 to 214-9. With three overs left in the innings the rain started to fall sending players from the field. For Union Anessh Kumar took 3-27 of his very economical 10 overs, while Brad Fleming took 2-46 of his 9 overs.

At the St Kevin's College Artificial, Union won the toss and elected to bat, reaching 207 for the loss of 7 wickets at the completion of their allocated 30 overs. Glen Curry led the way with 63 not out, while Kalumburu notched up 58 - the pair putting on 119 for the 5th wicket. Lloyd Fellowes (2-34) and Jacob Tait (2-29) were the pick of the bowlers.

The St Kevin's openers were up for the chase putting on 50 runs in only 5 overs before Toby Walton (22) was caught of the bowling of Ash Nockels. Campbell Fowler then joined Liam Cameron at the crease and the pair moved the total to 67 before the loss of Cameron for 32. Fowler added another 4 runs to the score before the players left the field due to rain. Only two bowlers were used by Union with Ash Nockels taking both wickets to fall for 43 runs.
