In the opening two rounds played on the same after noon Union lost its first game against Oamaru but had a crushing victory over Valley in the second game.

Union won the toss and elected to field against Oamaru on the grass wicket at Milner Park. After their 20 over's Oamaru had finished with 126-6 with Jordan Horrell top scoring being only three short of his half century. For Union captain Paul Johnston opted to open the bowling with his slow right arm spin bowling and was rewarded with very good figures of 3-3 of his four over's. Stu Dickinson was the only other bowler to take two or more with 2-29 of his four over's.

Union started slowly in its chase and struggled to found the needed boundaries. Englishman James Cutt top scored for 25 while Duncan Drew scored 24, Union falling short by 33 runs, being 93-8 of its 20 over's.

In its second game of the afternoon, Union lost the toss and was forced to field against a weakened Valley side. Thanks to the efforts of fast bowler Chris Ware, Union found itself on top early and then Phil Crossan kept the pressure on as Valley was all out for 83, Crossan taking 4-11 and Ware finishing with 2-5.

Chasing 84 for victory, Union found little opposition as a 43 run opening partnership between Cutt (18) and Drew (14) then a 41 run partnership between Cameron (9*) and Sean Conlon (23*) saw Union through to victory in the 11th over. Conlon looks to be in good form with 18 of his runs coming from a six and three fours. Victory to Union by 8 wickets.
